TC has, and always will be, completely public. Even if a privacy coin could be added, it will be added in a fully-public manner.

So back to OP, is TC bragging about no privacy and did TC ever aim to deliver a privacy bridge?
No and No. TC is fully public (always was and always is). TC still aims to connect to a variety of chains (with and without privacy features) in due time when it is ready.

This is the better way; there is a mind-boggling amount of esoteric knowledge required to understand the nuances of every chain type (UTXO, EVM, BFT, EDDSA, XMR etc).
Let @kayabaNerve be the XMR expert and @SeraiDEX optimise for XMR, and simply share routes via dex aggregation

Will TC ever re-visit XMR/XHV etc?
Right now it can not be completed; in the future it could. The best way is to let @SeraiDEX solve the hard problems (be subject matter experts at it) and use Dex Aggregation to link TC<>Serai, so users can access XMR across both DEXs
